Bear Walk
A guided hike on the Little Bear Trail, through the landscapes of the Kitka River.
Summer hikes have begun. The ever-strengthening light and gently warming sun create a memorable experience in the rolling terrain of the Kitka River.
The hike begins with a short warm-up exercise and ends with a restorative stretching session after the 12-kilometre journey. A tasty lunch by the fire is also served, along with useful knowledge for learning to read the traces of nature.
On the walk, you discover
- old local stories and oral tradition
- signs of northern nature: weather, seasons and animal behavior
- beliefs connected to forests, rivers, stones, spirits, guardians and forces of nature
- old wilderness and hiking culture
- stories connected to place names, landscapes and trails
- folk knowledge of plants, animals and surviving in nature
